Under the direction of the Program Supervisor, performs diversified duties in providing assistance in carrying out the operations of the First Step Inn Emergency Shelter.
Develops, implements, and monitors an individualized service plan with each assigned guest in agreement with the individual and other members of the his/her natural and professional network of supports.
Develops, implements and monitors a housing placement plan with the assigned guest in agreement with him/her.
Performs advocacy on behalf of the guest experiencing barriers to other services related to language ability, literacy level, physical disability, and lack of trust in government institutions.
Links guests to services provided by community based organizations such as peer support groups, legal services, clinical mental health services, nutritional counseling, etc.
Maintains a daily log of guests’ status and makes appropriate entries into case record notes following all meetings and collaborations concerning the guest.
Participates in trainings and skill enhancement seminars outside the agency.
Provides timely monthly statistical reports of case contacts to Program Director.
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or the equivalent knowledge and experience required.
A minimum of two years’ work experience providing services to persons who are in recovery, may be homeless, or disabled persons. A working knowledge of computers.
Ability to operate computers, telephones, and assisting in advocacy within the community.
Overall excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Appropriate control of emotions and feelings is required in carrying out position responsibilities.
